A Dinner Treat
One evening, Doug gave "the boys" a treat for dinner. We had had bacon for breakfast, and saved the bacon grease. Doug added the dog food to the bacon grease and heated it up. It actually kind of smelled good.
Dog food fit for a couple of beagles.
"The boys" love the smell of that food cooking just for them.

It's 2011
Happy New Year to all! I hope you all have had a great 2010 and are ready for another year!
This is the calendar page for the month of January 2011 - featuring pictures from January of 2010. It's hard to believe that it has already been one year since I cut off my hair and donated to Locks of Love. What a great feeling that was. I'm thinking about doing it all over again!

Who Needs A Pillow - I'll Just Make My Own
I have said it before and am pretty sure this is not the last time you will hear this from me. Sam is one crazy dog. I mean very, very unique. I could probably say it every day for the rest of my life and it still would not be enough to really get my point across. Just when we think we have seen the strangest thing from him, he does something new. And what's really sad, is that he is starting to mellow out quite a bit.
We had a pretty cold couple days about a week or so ago. I mean really cold for us - highs in the 50's. Yuck! and BRRRRRR! So, we pulled out the warm clothes and the slippers and such. Doug had been wearing his slippers but took them off right at the couch. And here is the pillow that Sam decided to make for himself. I mean he's already got the "blanket" on by wearing his hoodie. He just needed something soft to rest his head on er I mean in.

Yep, you are seeing that right. He has his nose down inside the slipper. It was very toasty in there.

And A Good Morning To You Too
This is how Ryan & I were greeted one morning a few weeks ago. Don't you wish you could be us? I know you do!
And of course, we just knew that it was Sam that did this. After all, he is the food obsessed one. But about a week later, I was upstairs working at 5:30 in the morning. Doug had already left for work & Ryan wasn't up yet. And I kept hearing this loud banging going on downstairs. So, down the stairs I went, closely followed by Sam who had been asleep under my desk.
It was Ranger! He was banging into the trash can trying to tip it over. Crazy dog. I have since caught him at it three more times. So, far he has not been able to get the can knocked over before I get down there to tell him he needs to get back upstairs where I can keep a better eye on him. Not sure what has gotten into him.

December Calendar Pages
Here is the last installment of the Calendar Pages for this year. I have begun work on the calendar for next year, but only have about 3 months done. Better get moving if I want to have it done by Christmas.

Sometimes It Pays to Be A Little Sneaky
I'm not saying that we should all do it, but sometimes it pays, just ask our dog Ranger. Now, it's no secret that our dogs are slightly spoiled. Okay, okay more than slightly. They are not just dogs in our house, they are full fledged members of our family. They get lots of love and attention.
Ranger is the stealthiest of the two. He has a way of sneaking around and into things that he shouldn't. And he knows it. Because he turns on the charm and those big sad puppy eyes so that he will not get in trouble. He's made quite an art of it.

One morning, before school I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth. For some reason I had shut the door when I went in. Which I don't normally do for just a teeth brushing. I could hear Ryan outside the door, and in the bedroom, laughing. When I opened the door, this is the first thing I saw - Ranger all snuggled up and comfy as could be on our pillows. I don't think so. He was removed from the bed . . . that is after I snapped a couple pictures of him first. Too cute, but not too cute to kick off the bed. Sorry Ranger. Better luck next time.

What Do You Do With Your Pumpkin Guts?
Well? Do you just throw them away? Do you make pumpkin seeds in the oven? This year we did something totally different with ours . . . we fed them to the chickens! Now, if you receive this in email, let me tell you right now you need to go to the sight to view this post. I'm including a video in this post and they do not go through email. Happy viewing!

Happy Birthday To Doug
Last weekend Doug celebrated another birthday. We kept it pretty simple this year, celebrating with just our little family. First thing in the morning we gave him his presents. We went a little more practical on gifts this year too. Sticking with clothing items.
And then we celebrated in the evening by making a run of all our favorite Joe Places. And, would you believe I left my camera at home sitting on my desk next to my computer? So, no pictures of the evening sorry.

And even after most of the contents had been removed, Sam still needed to be sure there was nothing in there to eat.

So, here is our "Joe" evening. We started out at Liberty Market for dinner. Because you get $10 off your meal on your birthday. Since their portions are so big, Doug and I always split something so we did pretty good on our meal there. Then we went to Joe's Farm Grill for some shakes. We got two - one for Ryan & I because Doug doesn't do shakes. These were free because they were under the $10 limit. And then we stopped at the carry-out window at Joe's Real BBQ for a chopped chicken salad - that Doug and I split for lunch the next day. And again, that was free. What a great deal! I mean we love Joe's restaurants because the food is super yummy, but it's even better when you can get so much for free! We are big time fans!

Hanging out with the Dogs
Our dogs are pretty entertaining. We love them very much, and they get treated pretty darn well at our house. Here are a few pics Doug took of me and the dogs.

I shot this earlier in the day when Doug was giving the dogs a treat. They are so opposite in all of their behaviors it's too funny. One of them jumps like crazy and the other one just thinks he is jumping super high, even if his feet barely leave the floor. I was trying hard not to laugh while I was filming this. And, if you receive emails on this post, you will need to view the video on the site.

Pumpkin and Chili Festival
On Friday night, we attended a local Pumpkin and Chili Festival with my niece and her family. This is our third year going with them and we had so much fun this year - I think it was the best time yet! I took tons of photos - over 100, so get ready for some viewing. (And for those of you that get this in email form, you may want to go to the sight to view it - it looks so much better there.)

By the time we made it through the maze, it was starting to get dark. It was perfect timing.

Then it was time to hit the rides. Ryan and Baylee went on the bumble bee ride together several times. It was fun to watch Ryan help Baylee get in and out of the ride.

Ryan and I went on the swings a few times and the roller coaster.

Here was a fun tennis ball launcher where you try to hit some targets. Ryan hit several of them. It wasn't very crowded on the night we went so no lines to wait in. That was very nice.

At the end of the evening, they even had some fireworks.

And we couldn't leave without getting a pumpkin. Ryan picked this one out.

It's Been 17 Years
Can you believe it? Doug & I celebrated 17 years together on Sept. 11. It has flown by. We had a pretty relaxing day. The three of us - Doug, Ryan & I went out to eat at Black Angus where we always split a steak - Prime Rib. Yum! Then in the evening we went to a favorite frozen yogurt place - Ocean Blue with some friends, The Anderson's, and my brother. I took pictures at lunch, but was having a fun time chatting and such for the dessert that I totally forget to even get my camera out. Sorry about that.

Even the dogs got an anniversary treat - a nap on the couch with Doug. He tried to nap while I watched The Bourne Identity. Really who can sleep through that movie? So much action!

September Calendar Pages
Here I was all excited because I caught up on my entries. WOOHOO!!! Then I looked at the calendar and saw that it was September 5th. That means it's time to change my desktop wallpaper to Septembers Calendar Page - which means it's time to post the calendar pages too! So here they are for September.
I hope that you have enjoyed looking at the pages from over the years to see where we have been and what we have been doing. It's been a fun journey down memory lane!
There have been many fun times over the years. Much growth and many new experiences as well. We have loved sharing with our friends and families over the years. Thanks for all the great times and we look forward to more in the future.
