Various Pumpkin Carvings

Can we come in?
Let the carving begin:

Our pumpkin this year - a Dragon:

Ryan's pumpkin:

We've had a very busy week. We have carved, carved, carved pumpkins all week. To start the week, we went to a pumpkin carving party at my brother's house. Only . . . we didn't carve. After a very long day at work for Doug, he was unable to make it to the party. So, Ryan and I went without him for the festivities - and the FOOD! Great lasagna Patti! Doug carved our dragon pumpkin on Tuesday night. He loves learning and trying new techniques on our pumpkins. This year included a dremel and a tooth brush. What do you think of our dragon? Then on Thursday night, we cared Ryan's little pumpkin. Ryan learned all about petroglyphs in school. He drew several of those on his pumpkin and shaved them into the skin. It's been a fun week of carving. And tonight we trick or treat . . .

Pumpkin Pickin'

We went to pick out our pumpkin for carving this weekend. Here's Ryan in the pumpkin patch. Of course, he was checking his phone for text messages while we were looking for pumpkins! Tonight we carve . . .

Pokemon and dinner anyone?

We go out to eat at Cracker Barrel to celebrate one of my nephews birthdays (Scottie) the other night. Ryan took his Pokemon cards, 'cause Heaven Forbid he might have a moment with nothing to do. He would make a good boy scout because he is always prepared with something to do. We travel with more toys and games. Luckily, now that he is older, he carries them all and I don't have to anymore. So, we are at dinner and Annie offers to play Pokemon with him. They had fun playing. They didn't get to finish their game because our food came. They'll have to schedule another game sometime.

Fall Festival

So, at the last minute, we made plans to go to a local Fall Festival with my niece and her family last night. I'm so glad we did! It was so much fun. We had such a great time. We went on a hayride to a corn maze. The maze was supposed to be in the design of a famous person, but we never could figure out who. I think we only made it through 1/4 of the maze. It was a little creepy - all dark and tons of dead ends. We also went on a rollercoaster, swings and the funnest "go-carts". They were very different from any go-cart I've ever been on - we had to pedal these ones. Very fun, but also pretty tiring. Of course, we enjoyed kettle corn, fresh-squeezed (we watched them do it when we ordered) lemonade and roasted nuts. The evening ended with a fireworks show! Great evening all around.

Chicks and 'Boardin'

Ryan has been pretty busy skateboarding - in class and practicing outside of class. He really enjoys it and is working on ollies right now. We have a great time watching him in his class. Last class was pretty cold. It was only in the 70's all day long - really that is COLD for us, plus the wind was blowing. I would've gotten more pictures, but I had to sit down & bundle up.

Our baby chicks are getting bigger - almost by the day. They cuddle together during the day & all night long. If you look close at the pic, you can see they are losing their yellow fuzziness on their wings and are getting their "big girl" feathers. They love to tip over their food dish and then peck at the floor of their home. It's fun to sneak out at night and look at them cuddled together sleeping.

New Peep-Peeps

This weekend was a pretty busy one - skateboarding, movies, cleaning house and we topped it all off by getting some new peep-peeps (or chickens). We met Scott for lunch and picked them up at a local feed store. They are very cute little yellow fuzz balls. We then found a really big box to line with paper for them to live in. We can't put them in with the bigger chickens for a couple months. For now, they are staying toasty warm in our garage. The neighborhood kids came down to watch them "move" in to their new home.

The weekend is here!

Wow, I cannot believe it is the weekend already and in October! Where has the time gone? Oh yes, having a great summer. Here is Ryan and R2D2 from legos:

I haven't been very good about taking pictures for fun lately. So, I don't have any updated photos - except of the dogs. Okay, I'll share those too!

Ryan has been having a lot of fun in his skateboarding class. I figure, he's got the hair for it, he should learn how to do it! He's enjoying it. Doug & I have as much fun watching him!
Ryan saved up his allowance and bought a new critter for our house. 'Cause, apparently we didn't have enough. Let's see a Bearded Dragon, 4 common geckos and a Leopard Gecko. Yep, definitely not enough. So, he bought a fire-bellied toad. I have to admit he has been very good about taking care of it. Every morning he cleans out his water dish & gives Inferno fresh water. Here are some pictures of Inferno "moving in".

Favorite Time of Year

It's one of my very most favorite times of year - I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!! Pretty much, most of you are probably nodding your heads in agreement - if you've known me for 5 minutes, you most likely know this about me. I love all the decorations, the costumes (although, personally I don't really care to dress up - figure that one out!!!), the pumpkins, the bats, the ghosts (oh my!), and of course the chocolate candies! I just really love it. I think, mostly it comes down the wonderful colors of halloween. I love black, orange and of course PURPLE! I thought I'd share some pictures of past Halloween seasons. Enjoy!
